Bibi Aisha, a wife of 18 years, from the province of Oruzgan in Afghanistan, who fled to his family home in the house of her husband, complaining of violent treatment. The Taliban came one night, demanding Bibi be returned to face justice. After a Taliban commander gave his verdict, the brother of Bibi-in-law held her down and her husband cut off her ears and cut off her nose. Bibi has been abandoned, but later rescued by aid workers and U.S. military. After a time in a women’s shelter in Kabul, she was taken to America, where she received reconstructive surgery and counseling. Aisha Bibi is now living in the United States.
